Managing a social plan in France: a brief guide for international groups considering reductions in workforce in France

The COVID-19 crisis has been presenting companies with a great deal of challenges. They have not only been led to swiftly adapt to the ever-changing restrictions. Some of them were also forced to look for ways to weather the storm.

The French Government’s various schemes, including furlough, clearly helped some companies sail through these difficult times. Such schemes should however come to an end soon. And an economic and financial crisis may be looming ahead, right behind the Covid-19 storm. This may lead companies to consider reductions in workforce in France.

When designing such a project, international groups often see French law regulations on redundancies as an obstacle to a swift transition. Although not entirely true, some rules and principles are clearly worth bearing in mind.

On April 14 2021 at 6 pm CET we will guide you – in English – through those rules and principles and lead you through the main legal provisions governing social plans in France, aka “job-protection plans” (“plan de sauvegarde de l’emploi”).

We hope this 90-minutes webinar by Loïc Héron and Paul Romatet will help you come to terms with collective redundancies in France.
